I think that the best direction of travel would be north to south. This appears to be the trend of most other groups that make the journey. I think that because of weather that would be best. Here is a basic map of the trip. I will come up with a day-to-day schedule of the trip as the time approaches. The dates are Sept 1st to October 1st. That is when the weather on the north coast is the best.
